Battle Creek Back from the Brink: The Economic Renaissance of Cereal City USA - 58 min. c. 1999
Battle Creek had become another rustbelt city in the 1970’s, and the loss of major manufacturers caused the downtown to fall into decline. Faced with the possible loss of the Kellogg Corporation, voters approved a merger between the city and the township. This enabled local government to tackle the many social, economic and infrastructure problems that plagued the city. During the next decade, the city underwent a remarkable transformation that saw major rebuilding in the downtown and revitalization of neighborhoods.
